Coope. BA Vet MB MRCVS John Coope qualified from Cambridge University Veterinary School in 1981 and moved to Chine House Veterinary Practice. He became a partner in 1983. John is an Equine Clinician. Special interests are reproduction and competition horses. Personal interests are Golf, Running and breeding flat racehorses. |

Hassett. MVB MRCVS Conleth Daniel Hassett graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 1981 and during the following 13 years worked in total or predominately small animal practice, in Co Meath, Wigan, Preston and Leicester City. In 1994 joined Chine House as a partner, in charge of the small animal department. He is interested in all aspects of small animal practice especially orthopaedic surgery. He is married to Aine, who runs the laboratory at Chine House. Aine is also a Trinity graduate, gaining a primary degree in microbiology and later a PHD in Immunology. They have 4 children ranging from 18 to 27 years. Outside Veterinary he enjoys walking, reading, rugby, holidaying in France and an occasional glass of wine. |

Kernohan. BVM&S MRCVS Robin Kernohan graduated from The Royal Dick Veterinary College, Edinburgh in 1974. His first job was as an assistant to Peter Thorne of Thorne & Thursby-Pelham, now Avondale Vet Practice. For family reasons he returned to his home town of Ballymena, Northern Ireland where he set up a mixed practice. After a couple of years the strong desire to specialise with horses led him back to the main land. Working in practices along with veterinary surgeons such as Les Harris at Tewkesbury and Bob Baskerville at Tucket and Gray, then back across the water for a stint on the Curragh with Ned Gowing. After which he worked with Scott Dunne in Berkshire and Alan Walker at Hook Norton, picking up ample experience in all aspects of equine practise. In 1989 he joined John Craven, Michael Minns and John Coope, becoming a partner in 1990. Robin now spends the majority of his time doing pre-purchase examinations. He married Ruth in 1975 and they have two children. |

Rudkin. B Vet Med MRCVS Martin Rudkin graduated from The Royal Veterinary College, University London in 1996 and joined Chine House in August of that year. He became a partner in 2005. Martin divides his time between large and small animal work, with particular interest in small animal medicine. He is also responsible for the running of the farm animal side of the practice. From a local farming family, Martin developed a keen interest in farm animal practice at a young age, spending many years prior to vet school seeing practice with Michael Minns. His spare time is spent with his wife Sandra, their 4 horses, 4 dogs and 2 cats. Martin enjoys running, photography and eventing. |

Turner. BVSc (Hons) MRCVS Simon Turner graduated from the University of Bristol in 1989. He worked in the army for six years serving at the Kings Troop RHA, in Northern Ireland and Melton Mowbray. In 1995 he joined Chine House and developed the surgical facilities at the practice. He became a partner in 2005. His main interests are Equine Surgery & Dentistry. He is married to Edwina who is one of our Farm clients. They have two young children called Tristan and Francesca. |

Dickerson. MA Vet MB CertEP MRCVS John Dickerson graduated from Cambridge University Veterinary School in 1996 and joined Chine house in 1997 after a period doing research supervised by Professor Twink Allen at the Equine Fertility Unit in Newmarket. He gained his certificate in Equine Practice in 2003. His main interest continues to be Studwork particularly Artificial Insemination and he is also in overall charge of Equine Anaesthesia. He is married to Tina and they have one daughter Rosie born February 2006. |

Leaman. BVSc CertEP MRCVS Tom Leaman graduated from Bristol University School of Veterinary Science in 1998. He joined Chine House Veterinary Hospital in August of that year, gained the Royal College Certificate in Equine Practice in September 2005. Tom has a particular interest in Thoroughbred stud practice, but enjoys most aspects of practice work. Tom is married to Claire and they have a young son Harry. Outside of work he enjoys country pursuits and cricket. |

Bannerman. BVSc MRCVS Richard Bannerman attended Liverpool Vet School, on qualifying worked for 10 years in the North Shropshire Border Country. This was followed by 14 years in the warmer climes of East Devon, a brief interlude in Warwickshire and then to Chine House. I was first exposed to work as a vet "Seeing Practice" with Michael Minns during the drought year of 1976. Things have changed a lot since then! A traditional general practitioner. He spends most of his time on the farm side of the practice. |

Blow. BVSc MRCVS David Blow graduated from Bristol University Vet School in 2002. Following 2 1/2 years working in mixed practice he decided to concentrate on small animal work, He joined Chine House Veterinary Hospital in 2005. He is interested in all aspects of small animal work and has a particular interest in surgery. |

Brown. BSc(Hons) BVSc MRCVS Alice Brown graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2004. Following graduation she travelled around Morocco and worked for the charity S.P.A.N.A. She undertook an internship at Bell Equine Veterinary Clinic in Kent from 2004 to 2005 and joined Chine House Veterinary Hospital in January 2006. Her main interests include orthopaedics, anaesthesia and surgery. She has recently married James and they have 2 border terriers called Tati and Purdey. |

Creis. BVSc MRCVS M Vet Clin. Stud. Lucile Creis graduated from the University of Sydney in December 1990. She first worked at a racetrack Practice in Randwick for 3 1/2 years, before doing a residency in Large Animal Medicine and Surgery at the University of Sydney. The title of her Masters Thesis was "Wound healing in horses". A couple of years in The Republic of Ireland followed, before joining Chine House in April 2000. Lucile is interested in all aspects of Equine practice especially surgery. Lucile has three passions in her life: Horses, her family and travelling. |

Garratt. B Vet Med MRCVS Jonathan Garratt graduated from The Royal Veterinary College, London 2004 he joined Chine House Veterinary Hospital shortly afterwards. Jonathan enjoys all aspects of equine veterinary work. Outside of work he is a keen tennis and football player. |

Gaul. BSc BVM&S MRCVS Jane Gaul qualified in 2006 from Edinburgh University, after previously graduating from the University of Wales, Aberystwyth with an Honours degree in Animal Science. Jane joined Chine House in 2007 and is currently working in the equine and farm animal practice. Her main interests are equine dentistry and anaesthesia. Jane is a keen rider and competes with her own horse whenever possible. |

Craig is rather a shy creature a bit like the American Crocodile
The American Crocodile is a large, very rare, shy reptile. It has a long, tapered, triangular-shaped snout. |
Hunt. B Vet Med Cert SAM Cert Zoo Med MRCVS Craig Hunt qualified from the Royal Veterinary College in 1997. Holds the Certificate in Small Animal Medicine and the Certificate in Zoological Medicine. Has special interests in all "exotic" animals from rabbits, rodents, ferrets, birds, reptiles, fish & invertebrates and most others that you can think of. Accepts both first and second opinions across much of the Midlands and he is a member of numerous exotic animal societies including British Veterinary Zoological Society. The Association of Avian Veterinarians, The Association of Reptile and Amphibian Veterinarians and the American Association of Zoo Veterinarians. He is especially interested in improving owner awareness relating to husbandry and care of tortoises, parrots and rabbits. Spare time is spent in pursuing hobbies in falconry, cooking and scuba diving and looking after a large menagerie at home. More recently he has been helping his partner, Wendy in promoting the UK's first pet blood bank with regular blood drives at Chine House Veterinary Hospital. |

Pagett. B Vet Med MRCVS Alison Pagett graduated from The Royal Veterinary College London in 1984. She joined Chine House in 1994 after 10 years working in Small Animal Practice in Kent and Notts. She is married with two children Chris and Charlotte. |

Quinn BVSc Cert ES (soft tissue) Dip ECVS MRCVS Greg joined Chine House in September 2007. After qualifying and working in his native country of New Zealand, Greg moved to the UK in 1997and spent several years working at an equine hospital in Oxfordshire. He then undertook a surgical residency at the University of Bristol where he gained post-graduate qualifications in equine surgery, later completing specialist examinations to become a European Registered Specialist in Equine Surgery. He has moved to us from Cheshire where he was working as head surgeon in a private practice equine hospital. Greg is presently the only ECVS specialist in private practice in the East Midlands and will primarily be based in the hospital taking responsibility for the surgical and referral lameness caseloads. Away from work Greg enjoys golf, rugby, tennis, mountain biking and exploring the outdoors with his wife Charley. |

Shone. BVSc MRCVS Simon Shone qualified from Liverpool University in 2001 and started work at Chine House Veterinary Hospital soon after. He is in charge of the training of the student nurses and has a keen interest in anaesthesia. Prior to qualifying at Liverpool University he was a Pony Club Tetrathlete and point to point rider. He is also one of the course vets at Southwell Racecourse. He married Sarah in 2004 who was one of the equine veterinary nurses at Chine House. |

Smith. MA Vet MB PhD Dip ECVS DEO MRCVS Roger qualified from Cambridge in 1987. He spent a short period of time in equine practice in Towcester and Oakham, before embarking on a residency in equine surgery at the Royal Veterinary College London. Roger then completed a PhD and currently is a Professor of Equine Orthopaedics at the RVC. Roger is a RCVS recognised specialist in equine surgery (orthopaedics) and helps with difficult cases and more advanced surgery. In his spare time Roger has a particular interest in fast cars. |

Hallowell. MA Vet MB Cert VA Dip ACVIM-LAIM MRCVS Gayle Hallowell graduated from The University of Cambridge and completed a rotating Equine internship at the Royal Veterinary College (RVC). On completion of this she worked for three months at the RVC doing cross species anaesthesia, which allowed her to gain a RCVS certificate in Veterinary Anaesthesia. She then did a three year residency in Equine Medicine and Critical Care at the RVC. During this time she developed an added interest in individual ruminant and camelid medicine. She obtained her American Diploma in Large Animal Internal Medicine in June 2006. She is currently carrying out research towards a PHD in Equine Cardiology. Her special interests within medicine are gastroenterology, cardiology and all aspects of critical care in horses and ruminants. Ultrasonography is a particular passion. Publications have focused upon circulatory complications in colic patients and the effects of different fluid administration, cardiac problems in colic patients and ultrasonography of the eye, heart and abdomen in horses, ruminants and camelids. |

Jeanette Chalmers joined the practice as practice manager in 2000. Her background as a part-qualified accountant was in accountancy in various industries. She enjoys cooking and collects cookery books (old and new) She also enjoys walking but needs a navigator on the longer walks as she cannot map read. She is married to Steve who is from the outer "foreign" parts of Scotland. She has two daughters who are both chiropractors. |
