Zone Visit Scheme
Below are details of our new zone visit scheme. The scheme has been devised to try and reduce costs for our clients by improving the efficiency of our work.
What is a zone visit?
Zone Visits, for routine procedures listed below, are an alternative option to standard visits.
They are restricted to a particular day of the week, per area, and do not allow a specific time of visit or vet to be requested. In return you are eligible for a nominally priced fee of £5 including VAT per horse seen (up to a maximum of £15 per owner). The appointments are booked per horse and no separate visit charge is applied. The cost of the service provided, e.g. vaccination, will be charged on top of this at the normal price.
Which is my zone visit day?
Our zones are shown on the map at the top of the page (please contact the practice if you feel your premises is not covered).
Tuesdays (Green zone): North/East. North of A47, East of A46.
Wednesdays (Red zone): South. South of A47 (East) and A46 and A511 (West).
Thursdays (blue zone): North/West. North of A511, West of A46.
What services are available?
Services available under the Zone Visit scheme are listed below:
AVAILABLE NOT AVAILABLE
Vaccinations Extended examinations
Tooth Rasping Ultrasound
Medication Reviews Radiography
Initial Examinations Castrations
Microchipping Pre-purchase examination
Blood Samples Reproductive services
This list is not exhaustive; please contact the office if you are unsure whether or not the service you require qualifies for a zone visit. Further examinations may be required following an initial examination performed under a zone visit, these may not qualify for further zone visits.
How do I book?
Visits must be booked by 4pm the day before the desired appointment at the latest.
Appointments cannot be made on the day of the desired visit.
Visits are booked on a first come, first served policy and in some areas may be fully booked some weeks in advance. Early booking is recommended.
Due to the popularity of our zone visits, we are usually booked up well in advance especially on Wednesdays and Thursdays. To avoid disappointment, clients are advised to try and book a week in advance.
Important reminders re zone visits
We will never refuse to visit your horse if, for example, a vaccination must be performed the next day. If no zone visits are available another vet will be able to attend a normal visit at an agreed time and the standard visit fee will apply.
Specific times cannot be booked. If a visit for a specific time is required, we would be more than happy to provide this service and the standard visit fee will apply.
Appointments cannot be booked with a specific vet but your zone visit will always be from one of our team of experienced equine vets.
